Our Story

Displacement & Health Relief Network

The Displacement & Health Relief Network (DHRN) began with urgency. In late 2024, as violence intensified in Sudan, our founder, Sarah Merghani, raised and delivered over $10,000 in direct aid to displaced families who were being overlooked by the international response. What started as a personal effort quickly became something bigger — a realization that more impact was possible through collective action.

DHRN was officially founded in April 2025 to respond to displacement not just with charity, but with justice, dignity, and community-led care. We support refugees, internally displaced people, immigrants, and individuals with precarious status through direct humanitarian aid, public health relief, and youth-driven advocacy. Our work is deeply rooted in Sudanese leadership, diaspora solidarity, and the belief that those closest to the crisis should lead the response.

We are student-powered, grassroots, and unapologetically focused on the stories and needs that global systems often ignore.

From emergency kitchens in El Fasher to critical conversations around refugee policy and racial equity, DHRN exists because displacement is not just a crisis, it's a call to act.

Mission

The Displacement & Health Relief Network is a student-led, community-driven initiative that provides humanitarian aid, health support, and advocacy for displaced communities, beginning with Sudan and expanding globally. Through events, partnerships, and awareness campaigns, we mobilize resources and connect people to life-saving support.

Vision

A world where displaced people, refugees, and immigrants have equitable access to health, dignity, and opportunity, and where their voices lead the way in shaping sustainable solutions.
